Berlin Day 1

After arriving to Berlin around 6pm Saturday night, we immediately went to an amazing Italian dinner in Charlottenburg, a suburb outside of central Berlin. After dinner, we ventured to Olympic Stadium for an event called Pyronale! This is a competition between countries about who could put on the best fireworks show. Fireworks are fireworks so all the entries seemed the same so it felt like a New Year's Eve firework show just longer!

Our first full day was jam-packed with activities. We went on a 3.5 hour walking tour through Berlin. Then we took the train to Mauerpark for the largest flea market in Berlin. We ate dinner at this unbelievable restaurant, "The Bird". Their specialty is their burgers and we savored every bite, especially after all our walking. We concluded our night at the Berlin Philharmonic. The venue was a great work of architecture and I am so glad we had the opportunity to see a performance there!

Pictures (in order):
1. Brandenburg Gate
2. Berlin Philharmonic
3. Blue cheese burger at "The Bird"
4. Memorial to the murdered Jews
5. Part of the Berlin Wall that remains standing in Mauerpark
6. Hotel Adlon (where Michael Jackson dangled his baby from the balcony)
